Very consistent terroir at the heart of the greatest terroirs of the appellation. Ch\u00e2teau Trottevieille, Ch\u00e2teau Troplong-Mondot, Ch\u00e2teau Haut-Sarpe, Ch\u00e2teau Sansonnet, etc.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A pedological study carried out at Ch\u00e2teau Clos de Sarpe revealed clay-limestone formations of the \u201cmolasses du Fronsadais\u201d type (The higher part of this molasse dates from the late Oligocene epoch, making it about 25 million years old) and of the \u201cmolasses de l\u2019Agenais\u201d type (This molasse is mixed with weathering deposits from the Asteria limestone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This limestone, dating from the early Oligocene (about 30 million years old), has been regularly seen in boreholes and pits.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The Molasse de l\u2019Agenais (clay limestone) \u201chas a surface soil thickness of less than 50 cm, resting directly on the limestone rock. The rock is systematically present at a depth of less than 50 cm.
